Wow, is that real wood? I need to drive the new LaCrosse. That looks REALLY nice inside.

I like that little compartment under the gear shift. That’s a nice feature.

I was just about to post on the new LaCrosse yesterday! Some how GM forgot to nerf Buick and they ended up making a legit S90, Continetal, RLX fighter on a budget. And that face! Though it leans more Sonata than Avenir, but I didn’t mind.

The new grille is a definite winner. The old one was far too in-your-face with the chrome. The new one is far more subtle while retaining the ‘waterfall’ heritage grille as a subtle black pattern. My only gripe so far with the redesigned LaCrosse is more of a gripe with large sedans in general today, and that’s the fact that none of them have trunks. I really dislike this “everything is a fastback” style that sedans have nowadays.

Oh, hey. I didn’t even notice that. That’s neat.

That is very nice. Compared to something like the Volt which is consistently dispicable:

That must be a concept because the first gen volt interior is definitely not that

I think several FCA vehicles have something similar now that the shifters are just electronic toggle switches. The Chysler 200 has a very similar sloping console with a bin under it for example.

I assume the “everything is a fastback” is driven primarily by fuel economy regs. The sloped rear pillars make for a more aerodynamic shape and therefore more MPG’s. There are some tricks they could play to get around this, but it is an easy, low-cost solution. Even with less of a 3-box shape, the rear seats are still in the same spot, so these large FWD can sedans have enormous trunks inside.

Oh great, for some reason GM decided they needed to copy BMW’s infuriating potato chip automatic shifter.
GM has gotten good at making pretty decent vehicle platforms then fucking up the details.
The upholstery in the last two GM rentals I’ve had with supposedly-leather seats (a Regal and an Impala) was garbage.
Given that this has a lot in common with the Impala, I bet the rear visibility will be similarly terrible as the Impala.
Meh.

Modern car has terrifyingly poor rear visibility: News at eleven.
Ford Taurus, Fusion, Mustang, Camaro, Volt, Cruze, Chrysler 200, Impala, pretty much every car I can think of has terrible rear visibility.

It frustrates me to no end. These are boring mainstream sedans, not Lamborghinis. Being able to see out the back should be a basic requirement. Fuck all these cars.

Blame the government. Safety regs are one of the main reasons for rising belt lines and decreased visibility (ironically). That’s why rear view cameras are mandated standard equipment now.

Everyone says that, but my fiancee’s Impreza for example has great safety ratings and visibility. My 335xi is alright but the dash/cowl are a bit higher than I’d like.
Backup cameras are only useful in reverse. The problem with such bad rear visibility is you can’t see other drivers behind you when you’re trying to change lanes. Honda has that LaneWatch gimmick with the cameras in the rearview mirrors, but that’s far from universal.
I want a car I can see out of instead of needing a bunch of cameras to do that job.

The new XT5 has that shifter. 10/10 good parts binning, GM.
